The Knights of Columbus presented a check to Fr. Tom for $6,860.00 to pay for the LED lighting around the outside of our church. God Bless Fr. Downey Council #4934 for their continuous support of our Sacred Heart parish.

Girl’s Vocation Club Monday, February 13th- 3pm
Our girl’s vocation club is truly excited to present Sister Carol, sister of St- Joseph and renown potter to be presenting her call to vocation and her ministry as an artist.
Sister Carol is in residence at the convent in St-Augustine where she has her studio and offers pottery classes.
She will be talking to our girls Monday, February 13th, and we extend an invitation to all parishioners, family and friends to come and hear her story, see some of her artwork, ask questions.
She will be accompanied by Sister Josephine Marie who is very instrumental in helping us create and sustain our girl’s vocation club here at Sacred Heart. Meeting will be held in the Knights Hall.
All are Welcome!

Sister Jean Riggs, the Chaplain Orange Co. Sheriffs Office visits Girls vocation club
Sister Jean visited the girls vocation club on Monday, January 9, from 3:00 to 4:30.
Sister Jean gave us a history of her calling to become a nun. She completed all of her studies and was about to take her first vows when she realized that this may not be where God was calling her.
She met a wonderful young man who was studying to become a priest, they fell in love, and we’re married.
She was married for 20 years and she has three grown sons. After her husband died she realized that the call to become a nun had never really left. She entered the convent and found herself wanting to have a profession where she could really make a difference in the world. She entered an order in which they all have secular jobs. She does not live in a convent but has her own apartment and her three sons walked with her when she took her final vows to become a nun.
The day she came to speak with our girls was the day that the two officers from orange county were killed. Along with her story about her two vocations in her lifetime, she also spoke about her job. She told those in attendance two stories about a day in the life of a chaplain.
Everyone got a chance to ask her questions about being a nun, about being a mom and about being a chaplain.
We told her how much we appreciated her taking the time on such a terrible day to come and speak with the girls vocation club and the parents and parishioners who attended.
We would like to invite her back so she can tell her story to a larger audience!
Santa visits Sacred Heart & Knights of Colombus
Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus would like to thank all who came to have breakfast with Santa. 75 children got to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas wishes. Thanks to the CCW, Bingo and all sponsors, that made this all possible! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to ALL!!!

CCW – Christmas Party
CCW held their December meeting on Wednesday, December 7. The Children’s Choir from Sacred Heart School sang Christmas carols for our entertainment. Fr. Aldrin opened the meeting with a blessing before our luncheon and closed it with a sing-along of Jingle Bells and a solo carol in his Indian language. Our gift table for Smyrna West Nursing Home was overflowing with gifts. All of these gifts will be greatly appreciated by our elderly neighbors. Thanks to everyone who donated.

Sacred Heart – CCW – COAT DRIVE
Since the cold winter months are approaching, we would like
to furnish winter coats to our homeless students and their families
here in New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater & Oak Hill.
We will be collecting new and “gently used” coats for all sizes
and genders at all masses on November 26 & 27, 2016; so when
cleaning out your closets and getting rid of “past years” coats,
please remember our students and their families.
