Prayer Shawl Ministry

The prayer shawl ministry is an outreach program which aims to bring comfort to those who are ill or confined to home, hospice or another health facility. Each shawl is created with a recipient in mind, and the person is prayed for throughout the process of knitting or crocheting.

The shawls are also blessed at Sunday Mass when all those gathered are asked to pray for our sick brothers and sisters. Our Ministers of the Sick who continue the healing work of Christ through their ministry of presence and prayer personally deliver the shawls.

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty that the person who has nothing to eat.”

Knitters Prayer
Dear Lord; bless my hands as I knit today.
May each twist of the yarn guide me to create a pattern of love and comfort in my work and remind me of Your ultimate protection.
Wrap me in Your spirit so that I will be more caring towards those in need.
Grant me patience as I create this shawl.
And bless my handiwork as it travels to bring comfort and peaceto someone in need of Your warming embrace.  Amen.
