We beseech Thee, O Lord,
in Thy mercy, to have pity on the soul of Thy handmaid;
do Thou, Who hast freed her
from the perils of this mortal life,
restore to her the portion of everlasting salvation.
Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

REDEMPTORISTS – Join us for a Christmas Novena

The Redemptorists will be presenting a Christmas Novena online from December 16-24, and a Christmas Day Mass on December 25. Videos will be released on Facebook and YouTube at 10 a.m. (EST) each day. Please join us as we celebrate this season.

Also, please mark your calendar for a virtual Novena Prayer Service to Our Mother of Perpetual Help on Saturday, December 19 at 10 a.m. (EST)  on Facebook or on YouTube.

Jesus, the Most Holy Redeemer, gifted us with His Mother to accompany us on our journey in this world. Under Her title, Our Mother of Perpetual Help, She stands ready to support and comfort us in these uncertain times. The Blessed Mother tells us to pray so that our minds, hearts, and souls may receive the mercy and love promised to us by Her Son, Jesus Christ.

Please also tune into our audio podcasts daily, in both English and Spanish. Those can be found on the homepage of our website. Please also remember we do weekly reflections on Sunday’s gospel readings that post at 10 a.m. every Wednesday on Facebook and Youtube.

Please help support Sister Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana

Dear Sacred Heart families,
The Diocese of Orlando, our Sister Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana in the Dominican Republic and our Mission Office needs our assistance. As you know, this virus has impacted everyone’s budget, but no one’s budget has been impacted more than the Mission Office. The only sources of funding for the Mission Office annually is the 2ndcollection with took place in October and a small portion of income when each missioner goes down to the Dominican Republic. COVID has emptied our churches and we could not have speakers. Combined with the suspension of mission travel, the total mission funding lost was almost 80% of their entire revenue.
As we enter Advent and the season of giving, we would love to help Sister Bernie and our brothers and sisters in the mountains. Just as we have helped in the past with peanut butter, shoes, school supplies and uniform collections, this collection will be our special Advent service project of the season. Please see the attached flyer for more information. God Bless you for your support!

New Faith Formation and Evangelization Director

We are pleased to announce that Deacon Stephen Gross has accepted the important position of Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization. His position will oversee our Religious Education Program, adult faith formation, sacrament preparation, inter-denominational faith outreach, and other essential roles in our parish and community.

As the Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization, Deacon Stephen’s work will be part of a new parish initiative called, “Know, Love, and Serve.” All of our current and future parish ministries will fall under the umbrella of this new structure of knowing God (religious education, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, bible study, etc.), loving God (prayer groups, liturgy committee, music ministry, etc.), and serving God (St. Vincent de Paul outreach program, Knights of Columbus, Bereavement Committee, ushers, church and grounds maintenance, etc.). The goal is for Sacred Heart and St. Gerard to be a welcoming community, discerning the needs of both our Catholic membership and the community at large.

If you have a suggestion to help us achieve this goal of inclusion and interaction, please share it with our parish office staff. We are in this together. The Holy Spirit works through all of us!

Sincerely,   Fr. Kevin MacDonald, C.Ss.R.

The annual mission office appeal is the only opportunity available to the Mission Office to attend to the needs of our brothers and sisters in the Dominican Republic while at the same time offering to the people of the Diocese of Orlando, a missionary experience that is safe, affordable and above all spiritually engaging. We continue to believe that what we do in the Mission Office is still a valuable service to the Diocese of Orlando and an important hand up for our friends and families in the mountains of the Dominican Republic.

The video we have prepared speaks to the successes and life transforming opportunities that the Mission Office has been able to facilitate.  It is a story of evangelization and growth and of love and generosity.
